Ancestral Dolls
Black History Trailblazers
Virginia is home to the largest continuous experience of African American culture and life in the United States. Freedom Culture Doll Museum honors the Ancestors by telling their stories through the lens of cloth dolls providing a learning space for the world community to recognize and celebrate the vast achievements of people of African descent in the U.S. and globally. This rich history is captured in cloth to immortalize Black history trailblazers; men, women, boys and girls who have left an indelible mark on American and world history.
Cultural Preservation
At Freedom Culture Doll Museum, we are committed to preserving cultural heritage and celebrating diverse traditions. Our cloth dolls encapsulate the essence of ancestral stories allowing you to connect with rich cultural narratives. Through our work and classes, we strive to preserve the ancestral art of handmade cloth doll making.
