OUR MISSION

The Mission of the Freedom Culture Doll Museum is to fill the gap in Black history education as a teaching aid using the visual medium of cloth dolls to teach Black history.  Museumgoers will learn and dialogue about Black history pioneers and their impact on American and world history.  Freedom Culture Dolls preserves the visual legacy of a rich history that is gradually being erased from textbooks and curriculum nationwide.  The Museum is dedicated exclusively to the history of Black life, history and culture. telling the stories of a resilient people in the world's first all-cloth dolls museum. Located in Southampton County, Virginia this Museum features Black history trailblazers, Ancestors fashioned in cloth. Gift shop features a variety of ready-made cloth dolls. Freedom Culture Dolls are generational keepsakes designed for display, not necessarily for play. Dedicated to doll enthusiasts, history buffs, and collectors of all ages.
